Elf On The Shelf Sues Family For Elf Endangerment

Chippy had enough! He was the Elf assigned to the Jones Family about ten years ago. In the beginning he really enjoyed his time at the Jones homestead. He liked being part of the family holiday traditions. There were times where he thought the mom or dad went a bit too far on where he was placed for the night. To his surprise when he learned about what other elves like him have gone through during the holidays, he knew he had to speak up. While he was at the Jones’ home he started reading books on law. He felt that he had a good case against that family for Elf Endangerment.

Is There Such A Thing As Elf Endangerment?

Some of the other elves said that he had no chance winning this case. One fellow elf yelled, “This is what we signed up for, Chippy!” Others were just as fed up as Chippy on the negligence that they experienced over the years. One elf said that she was hanging from a fan for five days straight because the family went away on vacation.

Another elf spoke up and shared a story that he was kept in the dog crate because the parents didn’t know that their dog, Spike, took him one day when he was relaxing on the couch. The more and more stories that were pouring out, Chippy knew that it was on him to make things right. Therefore, he reached out to a local law firm and had them work on the lawsuit. After the papers came back to him and read it over, he had his lawyer present the papers to the Jones Family. Needless to say the family was in shock.

And The Verdict Is….

The judge didn’t know how this case would go. In all of her time serving as a judge she has never heard of an elf suing a family. Yet, she took the case very seriously. The jury consisted of elves, humans, Arctic creatures and one snowman. Chippy talked about the time he was locked in the freezer overnight. In addition, there was that time he had to balance himself on the clothesline outside. He shuddered when he recounted the time where the family’s pet bird kept on pooping on him. The Jones’ lawyer kept on looking over the contract that the Elf on the Shelf service had for each elf. The lawyer stated to the jury and courtroom, “The contract clearly states that the family can put the elf wherever they feel is necessary.” That created a stir in the crowd.

The judge asked for order in the court. When things calmed down both sets of lawyers gave their final speech. The jury was taking it all in. Chippy watched the jury and judge’s reactions to the closing arguments. It was going to be a close verdict. After three hours of deliberation by the jury, the court ruled in favor of Chippy and the other elves! Moving forward the Elf on the Shelf Act allows both the elf and family to create a plan for each holiday season. Once both parties agreed on how the holiday season will go, the Elf on the Shelf tradition can once again continue for that season. Chippy’s friends were forever grateful for the work he did to keep them all safe!
