Dads And Sons Who Played Together In Pro Sports
LeBron James & Bronny James
LeBron and Bronny made NBA history when they played together last year for the Los Angeles Lakers. On October 22, 2024, they checked into a regular-season game together against the Minnesota Timberwolves. They are the first and only father-son pair to play simultaneously in an NBA game as active teammates. Therefore it such a cool moment to witness this father and son duo play together. It is a testament to LeBron to be able to play in the league for that long to have his son play with him.
Tim Raines Sr. & Tim Raines Jr.
Tim Raines Sr. and Tim Raines Jr played outfield together for the Baltimore Orioles during the 2001 major league season. Hall of Famer Tim Raines Sr. joined his son Tim Raines Jr. in the outfield during a game against the Boston Red Sox. Raines Sr. is a seven-time All-Star and Baseball Hall of Fame inductee. He was best known for his 13 seasons with the Montreal Expos. Raines Jr. played as a switch-hitting centerfielder, spending 12 years in professional baseball including MLB stints in 2001, 2003, and 2004.
Arnor Gudjohnsen & Eidur Gudjohnsen
Arnor Gudjohnsen and Eidur Gudjohnsen created a unique international soccer moment in 1996. Former Chelsea star Eidur Gudjohnsen made his international debut for Iceland by coming on as a substitute directly replacing his own father, Arnor, during a match against Estonia. Eiður Guðjohnsen is one of Iceland’s most decorated players. He enjoyed massive success with Chelsea, where he won two Premier League titles.
Lee Petty & Richard Petty
Lee Petty and Richard Petty made history in the early days of NASCAR. The Pettys are one of the most famous families in racing. In the beginning of NASCAR patriarch Lee Petty frequently raced on the same track and directly competed against his legendary son, Richard, in the exact same races. Lee won 54 races and three championships. Richard, nicknamed “The King,” expanded the family legacy by recording a staggering 200 race wins and seven Cup championships.
