This week for the These Dads Are Doing It Right series I am highlighting the Good Dads organization. Good Dads is a nonprofit with a mission to help kids and communities one dad at a time. Here are few members from Good Dads. In addition, if there are any other dads that you think we should check out leave their name and info in the comment section below.
Good Dads
Raymond Hall
Raymond Hall founded DreamTree Academy 573, an after-school program that teaches young people about money management and starting their businesses through fine arts and performing arts. He is a member of the downtown district board and has previously worked as the Minority Business Coordinator for REDI of Columbia. As a single dad, Raymond connects with the mission of the Good Dads program, which focuses on supporting fathers and families. Through his work, Raymond aims to help families develop creativity, financial skills, and an entrepreneurial mindset for their future.
Will Cox
Will Cox is dad to two boys: Liam and Chandler. He has been married to Jenni for 12 years. Will enjoys working out and playing catch with his boys, which he has done almost every single day for the last eight years. His greatest passion is coaching football, having coached quarterbacks for two years before going went into business. Coaching his sons’ football teams is the highlight of his year. In addition, Will has also had the opportunity to mentor several young fathers battling addiction. He knows their plight and the challenges ahead of them. Through the grace of God, Liam and Chandler don’t ever have to wonder who their father was. Good Dads can do the same for others and change the trajectory of families for generations to come.
Dr. Benjy Lampert
Benjy is a retired physician after practicing medicine for 40 years. He specialized in anesthesiology and pain management. Over the years Dr. Lampert has witnessed first-hand how the lack of constructive parental influence has worsened health and magnified pain problems as children become adults. Therefore, Dr. Lampert sees the programs of Good Dads as an important way to improve family relationships that in turn will benefit all of society.
Dr. Mike Dawson
Dr. Mike Dawson is the proud father of three children: Emma, Jack and Christian. Mike and Wendy are college sweethearts and following a life motto of, “see a need, fill a need”. Mike has been a public-school educator for over 25 years and currently serves as the Executive Director of Instructional Services for the Branson School District. Mike’s passion is to create school structures and systems to ensure all students can succeed. He is honored to partner with Good Dads to promote parent engagement within schools throughout the region.
