A new week means a new post for Collector of the Week here at The Art of Fatherhood. As a fellow geek and collector of all things Pop Culture I wanted to showcase some cool collections that dads share in our community. We love to see this passion in what people collect. We talk about the latest movies, sports memorabilia, TV shows collection from shows like MASH, comic books and video games that we are enjoying at the moment.
This Week’s Collector – For The Love Of MASH
This week’s collection is from Steve H. His collection is inspired by one of the most iconic TV shows. This is what Steve had to say.
I watched Mash as a kid when my parents watched it but I was really too young to appreciate or understand the show. Well back in 1999 I had to work the night shift at work and someone had made several video tapes with tons of Mash episodes on it so I decided to watch it. It did not take long before I realized how funny this show was.
After a couple of months of watching the show I was hooked and I decided to write a letter to Harry Morgan who played Colonel Potter on the show. A couple of weeks later I received he wrote back and sent me a signed picture with my name on it. Well I thought it was the coolest thing so I went crazy and just started mailing everything I could think of to members of the show and movie.
More On His Collection
Most of them sent everything back to me signed and pretty quickly. On two occasions I had sent an item with 4 self addressed envelopes with a letter that said please sign and send to next person. Both times from 8 different people all together I got the items all signed by everyone. That was really cool. Father Mulcahy was nice enough to send me a signed Bible. They have all been very generous with me. One time I did a video interview of myself in the office saying thank you very much for everything and that I did this because I am a fan and not someone who was selling off there stuff.
Thanks for sharing Steve. It was really cool to see some of the cast members send you some autographs.
