One of the biggest debate topics in sports is which era is the best era. This also holds true for music. Each generation feels that the time they grew up in, they got to experience the best time in music and sports. You can share your opinions on why your era was better than others. Yet, when it comes to growing up there are certain things that my generation could do, that today’s kids can’t do. It is not my opinion, just facts. Let me know if you have any examples from when you were growing up. Leave them in the comment section below.

Things Generation X Can Do Growing Up
Growing up in the 80’s and 90’s we didn’t have social media. We were not scrolling on our phones. We were not texting our friends. So if our parents couldn’t drive us to the mall or the movies we had to find things to pass the time. What did we do? We did prank calls. We loved calling up random numbers (in the phonebook) and seeing what chaos we could create. My friends and I never did anything that was threatening, but we would ask stupid questions or pretend we were calling on behalf of a company. People can’t do that today because everyone has called ID. In addition, we don’t make phone calls. Most people text or email or send a DM. So the art of a good prank call is now lost. It is something kids today can’t experience. We tried to see how long we could keep someone on the line for and beat that time the next prank call. Oh man….those were the days.

Who Is It?
If you are around my age, did you ever participate in the doorbell ditch prank? My friends and I did that from time to time. Sadly the technological innovation that is a doorbell camera took away fun for kids. Everyone has a high tech doorbell these days. You know who comes to your door even before they ring the doorbell. Plus, just like a phone call, not that many people answer their door anymore. Kids today will miss out on finding the perfect house to prank. It was such a rush of going to a neighbor’s house and ringing the doorbell and making it to the next house or hiding in the bushes with your friends to see whether or not your friend’s dad would open the door and then swear as he was closing the door because no one was there. Sure doorbell ditch was not the best thing we could do with your time, but it was so much fun!
