Sneakers From The 80s and 90s That Were Straight Fire

There have been a lot of sneakers being brought back into the fold from the 80s and 90s. What was once old is now the new so to speak. Lots of kids and young adults are looking to one the best eras in sneaker history. Some people who are my age are picking up some of these sneakers that they rocked back in the day. Here are a few examples. What is your favorite?

Samba Originals Sneakers

Born on the pitch, the Samba is a timeless icon of street style. This silhouette stays true to its legacy with a tasteful, low-profile, soft leather upper, suede overlays and gum sole, making it a staple in everyone’s closet on and off the pitch. The Samba was a sneaker that you could use for gym class or just wear going to class or the mall after school.

KangaROOS Trainers Flap

KangaROOS was founded in 1979 by American Bob Gramm. Bob Gramm was an avid runner and jogged ten kilometers a day. And every day the question arose, “Where do I put the key?” The solution was very simple: a running shoe with a built-in pocket. KangaROOS had a presence in the NFL when Walter Payton rocked them.

Nike Huarache

The Huarache was first released in 1991. It was named after a Native American sandal. The slogan that Nike used in the ad campaigns for the Air Huarache was “Have You Hugged Your Foot Today?”  Nike released Huarache trainers. basketball versions, cross trainers and other models. There have been many revisions and retro editions made over the years. This is a fan favorite for many reasons.

Reebok Club C

Taking their cue from the ’80s court classic, these shoes are all about simplicity. They have a leather upper and a timeless easy-to-wear style. The EVA midsole gives you lightweight cushioning. When you get a new pair of the Club C especially in all white, you are rocking some of the cleanest sneakers in the biz.

Nike Air Tech Challenge II

Hitting the ’90s tennis scene on the feet of the hottest player at the time, the Air Tech Challenge turned heads on the court with its brash and unconventional style. Well, it’s back with the same attitude that made it an icon. This edition gives the original “Hot Lava” colorway a more aged aesthetic on the midsole. And its foundational elements, like the real and synthetic leather upper, plush foam collar and visible Max Air unit have proven to withstand the test of time. Tennis great Andre Agassi was the main athlete to wear these on the court for Nike.
