The story is the following a single dad’s sewing journey as he makes clothes to inspire his daughter. It’s Move Up Day for Ava and her kindergarten class, and Ava is chosen to recite a poem! She worries about remembering the words, but her daddy reassures her he will help her practice until she’s confident. But Daddy struggles with self-doubt himself when he decides to sew Ava a new dress. He does it for the occasion, but isn’t sure he knows the stitches and techniques. It was was greatly affected by Hurricane Ike. The book talks about the devastating loss of his father. The book was written by Sean Jensen. He was born in South Korea. He was adopted and grew up in California, Massachusetts, and Virginia, mostly on or near military bases. Given his unique background, he’s always been drawn to storytelling. It is a skill he developed at Northwestern University. His passion for writing came as a sportswriter for the last 16 years, almost exclusively covering the NFL. Sean and his wife make their home in Minneapolis with their two children

Taylor Calmus – Dad and the Recycling-Bin Roller Coaster 

A loving dad goes a little over-the-top as he tries to DIY the best day ever for his kids. In addition is comes from the viral video star behind Dude Dad and A Dude’s Guide to Baby Size. When Mom heads out for a day of shopping and self-care, Dad has an idea. He wants “the perfect opportunity for a spectacular, build-tastic, super-Dad plan.” Eager for his three kids to have the best day ever, Dad throws himself into build after build. He builds a leaf-blower-powered rocket ship and an ice cream truck with sherbet shooters. In addition each are more elaborate than the last. But one after another, the kids decline to play with Dad’s creations. Feeling dejected, Dad starts to put away his tools.
