These Dads Are Doing It Right – Part 162 – Fathers Leading By Example By Their Actions

This week for the These Dads Are Doing It Right series I am showcasing some dads who are leading by example. They do this by their actions. In addition they are not only inspiring their family, but others in their community. If there are any other dads that you think we should check out leave their name and info in the comment section below.

Joe Brownlee – Leading By Example

Joe Brownlee’s daughter, Sophia has had two heart transplants. Unfortunately, as she gets older, she’ll need more. Thankfully Sophia has her dad by her side. Now, Joe and Sophia are now committed to helping others who need transplants. His daughter’s experience led him to Enduring Hearts, a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding research to improve the longevity of heart transplants.  Brownlee is now the CEO of that organization and said the average pediatric heart transplant  lasts less than 20 years and half of those kids don’t make it to 20. To learn more about Enduring Hearts go to their website.

Mike Underell – Looking For Equality In Sports

Mike Underell says he wants his daughter to know that girls and women’s sports have value. His daughter, Lily came up to him while he was watching an NHL game. He told her that she plays soccer, they go swimming and other things throughout the year. She replied to him that she only sees men playing sports on TV. Mike wanted to change that. Therefore Mike wanted to do more to support women in sports. Mike and his family purchased streaming sites that cover women sports. In addition, he started up a YouTube site called Sporty Spotlight where he looks to support women in sports.

Tommie Poe – All About Being Selfless

Tommie Poe’s family sees the impact he has in their family and his community. His daughter, MeShona shares some insight about her dad. He is selfless, always there to help others and never puts himself first. He gives back to his community by helping others old and young. No matter what happens, I know I can call him and he will have a nonjudgmental ear. He worked multiple jobs to ensure our needs were met, and he still managed to be a present father.

Mark Frontera – Helping Kids Fight Cancer

Mark Frontera’s son, Adam was four when he was having a lot of stomach issues. In addition he was complaining about a lot of bone pain. After a few times of Adam saying he was in pain they went to the doctor. The doctor diagnosed Adam with stage four, high risk, neuroblastoma. Luckily, Adam beat his cancer after a battle for two years. Now Mark is working to advance the same technology that diagnosed his son. The new CT scans will have more clarity while using a lower radiation dose, giving doctors and patients a better chance of beating cancer.
