These Dads Are Doing It Right – Part 256 – Great Dads From Children’s Trust

This week for the These Dads Are Doing It Right series I want to highlight some great dads who work over at the Children’s Trust. The Children’s Trust is a public-private organization working toward a Massachusetts free from child abuse and neglect. I asked a few dads from that organization two questions. Here are their responses. In addition, if there are any other dads that you think we should check out leave their name and info in the comment section below.

The best thing about being a dad is…

I get to experience my children’s milestone moments. Seeing everything from first words and steps to graduations and getting driver’s licenses has been beautiful.

How has the Children’s Trust helped you become a better dad?

It’s taught me more about patience and meeting my family where they are. My expectations and hopes for them don’t matter if I’m not aligned with who they are and what they want for themselves.

The best thing about being a dad is…

Unsolicited hugs. A close second is being there for all the moments. They can big and small, watching them grow and seeing what a profound impact you have as a parent.

How has the Children’s Trust helped you become a better dad?

The Children’s Trust has helped to provide me with a clear vision of the father that I want to be for my children. In addition, I have the tools to work towards that vision. It has also provided me with a wide range of opportunities to learn from and connect with other fathers.

The best thing about being a dad is…

Having the responsibility of shaping my children and growing alongside them.  My children have impacted me in the most positive ways and we continue having experiences together making more memories.

How has the Children’s Trust helped you become a better dad?

The Children’s trust has provided me an opportunity to give back to other Dads. It happens by allowing us to teach, learn, experience and share the most important role we have in life. Without the generous support from the Children’s Trust, I would not be able to envision a community without the Nurturing Fathers Program. Also, to see the impact programs like this have on the fathers, families and the community is rewarding. They are only the first steps of allowing our next generation to grow.

The best thing about being a dad is…

Holding my little girls and feeling to my core the pure love and trust they place in me. In those moments, I’m reminded that being present. In addition it shows me to be dependable, and loving is everything they need and everything I want to be.

How has the Children’s Trust helped you become a better dad?

Being involved with the Children’s Trust has shown me just how many children don’t have that kind of support. It’s deepened my appreciation for what I have and made me more intentional as a father. Even during the hard days, that perspective helps me show up better. Not only for my daughters, but for all the kids we’re working to protect and uplift.
