These Dads Are Doing It Right – Part 260 –  Daddy Stroller Social Club

This week for the These Dads Are Doing It Right series I am highlighting the Daddy Stroller Social Club. Kalvin Bridgewater started the Daddy Stroller Social Club in Fort Worth, Texas after his bout with postpartum depression. Through park meet-ups with food and activities for kids, now with chapters in multiple cities, the club has become a way for dads to support each other. In addition, if there are any other dads that you think we should check out leave their name and info in the comment section below.

Daddy Stroller Social Club

Kalvin Bridgewater – Founder

Kalvin wanted to create a place where dads of young children could get together and build each other up. Just knowing that you are not alone in your thoughts or experiences is enough to soothe a weary soul sometimes. The Daddy Stroller Social Club believes that dads need and deserve community too. The fatherhood journey is not one to be made alone. After the birth of his daughter, he saw changes in his wife and in himself. They didn’t realize how much because they were so busy with a newborn. To make sure that dads and moms were able to take care of themselves, he created the Daddy Stroller Social Club.

Landon D. Taylor – Houston Chapter Leader

Landon is an author, speaker, consultant, and originator of the #HER quotes. He is excited to take on the role of Houston chapter leader for the Daddy Stroller Social Club. For Landon, the group is not just about strollers. It’s about showing up for our kids, for one another, and for this incredible journey of fatherhood. Therefore he is all about building about community. Check out the Houston chapter here.

Kelvin Washington Jr. – Seattle Chapter

Kelvin believes the foundation of hope begins with positive relationships. Dedicated to this belief, his sole purpose in life is to provide hope through building meaningful connections, especially for African-American males. Aiming to bring awareness to an often overlooked aspect of many communities, Kelvin founded “Think Different”, where he solely consults on the mental health of African American males. He is part of the Seattle chapter for the Daddy Stroller Social Club.

Keenen Allen Ladd – Seattle Chapter

Keenen is part of the Seattle chapter of the Daddy Stroller Social Club. He is part of the team committed to destigmatizing paternal postpartum depression. They do this through community-building, advocacy, outreach, and storytelling. In addition, he helps look to amplify the voices of fathers and promoting early intervention. They aim to create a space where fathers and father-figures can access communal support, education, and the wellness services they need in order to be functioning caretakers of their family unit.
