This week for the These Dads Are Doing It Right series I am exploring the world of cricket. There are some great dad and son duos in that sport. These dads and sons have created some cool milestones in that sport. In addition, if there are any other dads that you think we should check out, leave their name and info in the comment section below.
Great Dad and Son Duos In Cricket

Suhail Sattar and Yahya Suhail
Suhail Sattar and Yahya Suhail made international cricket history. They did this by playing together for Timor-Leste in a match against Indonesia. In addition, another cool fact is that not only were they featured in the same playing, but they also batted together during the match. Suhail has been recognized as one of the primary driving forces behind the development and rise of cricket infrastructure in Timor-Leste. That is something that has to make his son, Yahya proud as well.

Geoff and Mitchell Marsh
The Marsh Family from Australia are another great dad and son duo in cricket. Geoff, who is the father, won the 1987 ODI World Cup. Geoff played 50 Tests and 117 ODIs for Australia. He famously carried his bat through an innings during the year where his team won the World Cup. Not to be outdone, his son Mitchell took the sport to another level. He won three World Cups in the years 2015, 2021, and 2023. Because of his play, Mitchell was appointed as the captain of the different teams he played on throughout the seasons.

Chris and Stuart Broad
The Broad Family had made a name for themselves in this sport. Chris Broad was a former opener and match referee. His son, Stuart Broad became one of the greatest fast bowlers in Test history. Stuart was so good that he has retired over 600 Test wickets. They also looked to do good off the field as well. They set up The Broad Appeal to raise vital funds and awareness for Motor Neurone Disease. This was in honor of Chris’ stepmother, Michelle’s tragic passing in 2010.

Roger and Stuart Binny
Roger Binny was the leading wicket-taker in India’s 1983 World Cup triumph. In addition, his son, Stuart Binny later represented India in all three formats. Plus he still holds the best T20I bowling figures for an Indian bowler. Stuart took an incredible 6 wickets for just 4 runs, which remains the best bowling figures by an Indian player in One Day International history. Roger took on administrative roles and officially became the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India in 2022.
