This week’s for the Dads Doing It Right series I wanted to share with you some dad advocacy groups that are looking to help dads and families. These DADvocacy groups are assisting dads to make sure that they are able to become the dad that they want to be. If there are any other dads that you think we should check out leave their site in the comment section below.
Allan Shedlin – DADvocacy
The DADvocacy Consulting Group’s mission is to enable every father to become the dad he wants to be. Allan Shedlin’s work with DCG includes developing and conducting programs for dads/granddads/father figures at schools and agencies. He also helps with one-on-one parenting coaching, workshops, and speaking engagements in a variety of venues. Allan also continues to write on a broad range of parenting topics. Families Need Fathers – Advocate For Dads
Families Need Fathers seeks to obtain the best possible blend of both parents in the lives of children. They do this for children to realize that both parents are fully involved in their lives. Legally, parents should be of equal status. Responsibilities and obligations, caring and financial, should be fairly shared between the parents. This organization is firstly a social care organization, helping parents whose children’s relationship with them is under threat. In addition they offer information, advice and support services for parents on how to do the best for their children. Learn more about them by going to their website.
The Fatherhood Institute – Helping Out Dads
The Fatherhood Institute is an organization that focuses on policy, research and practice. Their vision is of a society in which there’s a great dad for every child. Above all they want to live in a society that gives all children a strong and positive relationship with their father and any father-figures. They look to support both mothers and fathers as earners and caregivers. In addition, The Fatherhood Institute prepares boys and girls for a future shared role in caring for children.
