These Dads Are Doing It Right – Part 262 –  Great Movie Dads

This week for the These Dads Are Doing It Right series I am putting the spotlight on great movie dads. These dads are all about being the best dad that they can be. They go to great lengths to make sure their family comes first. In addition, if there are any other dads that you think we should check out leave their name and info in the comment section below.

Great Movie Dads

George Banks – Father Of The Bride

Steve Martin turns in a heartwarming and hilarious performance as George Banks, a befuddled father who has a hard time letting go of his young daughter when she unexpectedly announces her plans to wed. Banks is the owner of an athletic shoe company called Side Kicks. As a sneakerhead and a fan of dad jokes, he gets even more points. There are so many funny and sentimental moments where a dad can feel for Banks. Overall, he wants his family to be happy and realizes that he needs to let their kids become adults.

Chris Gardner – The Pursuit of Happyness

Will Smith plays Chris Garner in the film The Pursuit of Happyness. The movie is based on a true story. In 1981, San Francisco salesman Chris Gardner invests his entire life savings in portable bone-density scanners. While he can sell most of them, the time lag between the sales and his growing financial demands enrages his wife, Linda, who works as a hotel maid. The economic instability increasingly erodes their marriage, despite caring for Christopher Jr., their soon-to-be 5-year-old son. They lose their home and he and his son are on the streets. He gets an internship to prove his worth. After a grueling six months of hustling every moment of every day, all Gardner’s hard work paid off. On the last day of his internship, his boss called him into the office and offered him the job.

Noah Levinson – American Pie

Eugene Levy played Noah Levinson in American Pie. He took awkward to a new level. No kid wants to talk about the facts of life with their parents, but Noah made sure he had an open conversation with his son. Noah is a supportive dad and really wants to be there for his son. He’s the kind of dad that might make a teenage kid frustrated, but you will appreciate him later in life.

Dr. Henry Jones – Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade

Henry Jones Sr., played by Sean Connery had a great chemistry with Harrison Ford as a father and son in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Jones Sr. was not the best dad if you asked Indiana, but during the film you see he was a dad that Jones Jr. needed to become one of the best archeologists in fictional history. The funny quips to real talk the scenes between the two were amazing. You can tell both really cared for each other despite certain tough scenes in the film.
