These Dads Are Doing It Right – Part 270 –  Filmmakers Highlighting Fatherhood Journeys For Daddying Film Festival & Forum

This week for the These Dads Are Doing It Right series I am putting the spotlight on the Daddying Film Festival & Forum. The Daddying Film Festival & Forum is the world’s first and only film festival. It is focused exclusively on promoting the importance of positive dad/dad figure involvement for kids and families. Check out some of the filmmakers and their movies. In addition, if there are any other dads that you think we should check out, leave their name and info in the comment section below.

Daddying Film Festival & Forum Filmmakers

Dave Haft – Room To Breathe

Dave is a videographer, filmmaker, and Dad to two kids. His short film, Room to Breath, was a MetroShorts Award Winner at the 2024 Washington DC Intl Film Festival. In addition is an Official Selection to the NYC Independent Film Festival. Plus it was just selected for the 5th annual Daddying Film Festival & Forum (D3F). In the film, Dave and his wife Mary, who live in Washington, D.C., confront pandemic parenting and virtual school in their search for household balance. Dave intimately captures daily life with two young kids and a growing emotional imbalance. The intimate family portrait is a universal tale of adaptation and a tool for parents and caregivers to reflect and heal.

Andrew Coughlin – Grief is a Room

Andrew is a self-taught filmmaker based in Los Angeles. He began making short films in 2012 and has since completed 13 projects, ranging from dialogue-driven narratives with small crews to deeply personal solo works created entirely on his own. His most recent films, The Small Hours, a 2026 Daddying Film Festival & Forum Official Selection, and Grief is a Room, mark a creative turning point—crafted with no budget, no crew, and minimal gear, they reflect a stripped-down, intimate style of storytelling that has begun to resonate with festival audiences. Andrew writes, directs, shoots, and edits his films independently, occasionally stepping in front of the camera out of necessity. His work is grounded in character and conversation, often exploring the quiet drama of everyday relationships.

Bob Lindenmayer – Making Megaforce

Bob Lindenmayer has over 20 years of graphic design experience creating game, web, video, and merchandising projects. He is an avid film prop collector and cult cinema enthusiast. Bob owns the largest collection of vehicles from the 1982 film Megaforce. Plus, he’s restored several vehicles to their original working conditions. Bob’s feature-length, documentary film, Making Megaforce, won Invasion LA’s Best in Fest 2025 and is a D3F 2026 Official Selection. He enjoys spending time with his kids Calvin and Eleanor racing a vintage Datsun on the family rally racing team. His kids also assisted him in creating Making Megaforce.

Justin Roberts – Long Walk Home

Justin Roberts is Dad to Eli and a five-time GRAMMY-nominated singer/songwriter. He is one of the founders of the modern family music scene. For more than 25 years, the Chicago-based musician has been creating the soundtrack to families’ lives. In addition he is helping kids navigate the joys and sorrows of growing up, while inspiring parents to remember their own childhoods. USA Today has called him “hands-down, the best songwriter in the genre.” His latest album, Brain Freeze, released in April 2025. It is packed with a dozen new songs, including “Long Walk Home,” which earned him his second D3F Official Selection for 2026.
