Collector of The Week – A GoBots Collection

A new week means a new post for Collector of the Week here at The Art of Fatherhood. As a fellow geek and collector of all things Pop Culture I wanted to showcase some cool collections that dads share in our community. We love to see this passion in what people collect. We talk about the latest movies, sports memorabilia, GoBots and video games that we are enjoying at the moment.

This Week’s Collector – A GoBots Collection

This week’s collector is from Billy. Billy is sharing his GoBots collection and the very heartwarming story that ties the GoBots with his grandpa.

I wanted to get Transformers for my birthday. My parents were very busy with their jobs and had a tough time getting things for me and my brother. My grandpa wanted to help my parents out and told them that he would take care of getting presents for our birthdays one year. He asked me what I wanted for my birthday. I told him any Transformer would do. The day of my birthday came and I woke up to see some presents on the dinner table. I asked to open them up and they felt like Transformers.

When I ripped up the wrapping paper to my surprise my grandpa got me GoBots. He looked so happy and I didn’t want to let him down. I thanked him for my presents and from time to time he would bring another GoBot when he would visit us. So for me GoBots meant a lot more to me than Transformers.

Thanks for sharing Billy. We all had those moments where we got the wrong toy line and kept going because they meant something to you.

Whatcha Got?

It can be comic books, bottle caps, records, helmets or whatever you are into! I want to see what your passion is and why you started up that collection. For me, I believe that in each collection lies a better story. I want to share your story! Feel free to reach out to me and share your collection.  If you enjoyed this post check out another Collector of the Week article.
