Collector Of The Week – How This Dad Became A Fan Of Comic Books

A new week means a new post for Collector of the Week here at The Art of Fatherhood. As a fellow geek and collector of all things Pop Culture I wanted to showcase some cool collections that dads share in our community. We talk about the latest movies, cards, comic books and video games that we are enjoying at the moment. What are you a fan of?

This Week’s Collector – How This Dad Became A Fan Of Comic Books

This week’s collection comes from Gil Noriega. He runs an awesome site called FanDads with Victor Aragon whose Boba Fett collection was displayed a few weeks ago. Gil is someone whose hobbies are very similar to mine. We both enjoy collecting comic books and sneakers. Gil shares his origin story of why he started collecting comic books.

I literally grew up around the corner from a comic book shop so my addiction, I mean hobby started early. I’ve collected cards, figures, toys and much more over the years but the one constant has been comic books. It can be an expensive and time (and space) consuming hobby, but there are worse things you could spend money on. My kids will read and buy comics with me occasionally, some can be good investments, and I honestly credit comics with helping become a fan of reading and writing.

Thanks for sharing Gil. Really enjoyed seeing your impressive comic book collection and the Miles Morales Air Jordan 1’s. You have a legit collection.

Whatcha Got?

It can be comic books, bottle caps, records, helmets or whatever you are into! I want to see what your passion is and why you started up that collection. For me, I believe that in each collection lies a better story. I want to share your story! Feel free to reach out to me and share your collection.  If you enjoyed this post you may want to check out an article in this series that talks about about a dad and son collecting sports cards together.
