A new week means a new post for Collector of the Week here at The Art of Fatherhood. As a fellow geek and collector of all things Pop Culture I wanted to showcase some cool collections that dads share in our community. We love to see this passion in what people collect. We talk about the latest movies, sneakers, cards, comic books and video games that we are enjoying at the moment.
This Week’s Collector – Sneakers Inspired By 80’s Cartoons
This week’s collector is from me. I wanted to showcase some of my sneakers in my collection, but with a geek twist. Growing up in the 80’s cartoons was a big part of my life. From Masters of the Universe to Thundercats these shows had fantastic characters and memorable theme songs. Which was your favorite cartoon from your childhood?
This part of my sneaker collection I am combining two of my favorite things, sneakers and 80’s cartoons. When I was a boy I would come home from school and watch He-Man take on Skeletor or Optimus Prime fight Megatron. Now as an adult I love to see companies like Puma or Asics combine the nostalgia of my childhood with popular sneaker models. I got to interview Kevin Smith last year. We talked about fatherhood and his Masters of the Universe: Revelations series. Recently he came out with special edition He-Man and Skeletor shoes from Puma. I got the Skeletor sneakers and inspired me to share these sneakers that were inspired by 80’s cartoons.
Whatcha Got?
It can be comic books, bottle caps, records, helmets or whatever you are into! I want to see what your passion is and why you started up that collection. For me, I believe that in each collection lies a better story. I want to share your story! Feel free to reach out to me and share your collection.
