Life Is Not All Fun And Games, But Make Time For Family Game Night

Do me a favor. Before you read this, open up your calendar on your phone. I am guessing each week is packed with meetings, business trips, after-school activities and other things that will be taking up your family’s time. We look to jam pack our weeks with activities. We forget to slow down and enjoy time with our families. One way we can change that is by making time for family game night. Family game night creates so many benefits for you and your family. Here are a few of those benefits.

Family Game Night Creates Strong Bonds

One of the biggest benefits of family game night is the bonds that are created as you create memories with your family. In our house we play card games and board games. Laughter fills up the house. As a dad, it makes me so happy to hear my family enjoy time together. In addition, we take turns on who selects what games to play together. That helps our kids know that they have a voice in our house. We love games where we have to bluff and see who is telling the truth. Games like Full of Bull from Semper Smart Games not only puts our bluffing skills to the test, but we get to work on our mental math skills. Full of Bull is a fantastic way to combine fun and education that is both parent and kid approved.

Games Can Lead To Better Grades

Games that combine education and fun can lead to your kids doing better in school. As they start to learn how to play and start to win, it builds confidence in them. That confidence can make its way in the classroom. It will also refresh your math skills.  So when your kids ask you for help with their homework you don’t have to run and hide hoping they figure it out on their own. Games like Blobby’s Pizza can make all of your family members be more confident when it comes to fractions, decimals and percentages. Your kids will see you enjoying math, which will make them look at math in a whole new way.

Family Game Night Teaches Life Skills

Another great benefit for family game night is teaching your kids life skills. Playing games with your family can help to reduce stress and anxiety. It helps them learn how to solve a game without stressing out too much. In addition, it also improves social skills that come in handy when your kids get older. It can help when they apply for their first job or look to try out for a sports team or join a club. Games can improve memory, attention, and overall cognitive function. All of these skills help them grow and learn more about themselves. I could go on and on about why family game night is so important, but I would rather you stop reading this and get together with your family to play a game. Set up a weekly game night with your family. If you are looking for some new games I would suggest you check out Semper Smart Games. There are a lot of games over at that site and on the Amazon page that your family will love to play together.

Please note: I teamed up with Semper Smart Games for this post and campaign and was compensated, but my thoughts are my own.

  1. My family and I look forward to Sunday nights. We play games together before we get ready for another week of school and work. My son loves math games. We will have to pick some of these up.
