Have you ever been in a parenting funk? If you answer the question honestly, most dads out there would say yes. You don’t have to feel bad about saying yes. It is human nature. There are days when we are not on our game. The tougher part is knowing how to get out of that funk and making sure that you are there for your family and friends.
You might talk with your spouse or friend about what you are going through. Their advice can be helpful, but you might need a different type of support—a new perspective, or someone who can listen without trying to solve your problems for you. If that is the case, maybe you should reach out to a certified coach. I interviewed Ed Seto and Peter Gandolfo from Evolution. We talked about their Fathers Coaching Group and the benefits you can receive from working with them.
How A Certified Coach Can Help You Be A Better Dad
Peter and Ed created the Fathers Coaching Group to create a space where all dads feel welcome. One of them has sons, and one of them has daughters. With children that range in age from 7 to 18, they’ve experienced a lot in their parenting lives. They’ve also coached hundreds of dads with kids of all ages. They emphasized that they have not solved the mystery and challenges of fatherhood. With greater self-awareness and peer support, they know parenting can be less lonely and more forgiving. With this mindset, you can show up more present, more patient, and kinder to the people you care about, including yourself.
The Fathers Coaching Group can help you become the father you want to be at work and at home. Peter and Ed have a passion for helping others. During my interview with them, I saw that passion. They use their experience as certified coaches to help men in all facets of their life. They look to make sure that you learn about all of your identities. In addition, they work with you on work-life integration and your ability to take care of yourself. Ultimately, this will help you be more of the dad you want to be. In addition, you can pass on what you have learned from these sessions on to your kids so they can benefit as well.

Sounds like a program that will make families stronger. I am all about that!
Totally agree Jeff!
Art, you keep finding ways to make sure dads can get all the resources they need to become awesome dads. Thanks for the work you are doing.
Thank you Cliff. I really appreciate that!
Sometimes I feel like the world is on my shoulders as a dad. I recently lost my job. I was so anxious. I needed to get a job to support my family. I read a few of the coaching style books at the library. It helped get my mind right. Coaching is important. People outside your circle have a different view of you. They can help see things you and your circle can’t. Coaching has helped me get back on track.
Well said Ryan!
I feel like there are so many self help people out there that the real ones get lost in the sea of imposters. I listed to your interview with Peter and Ed. This is the type of help I am looking for. Not just someone on instagram in front of a beautiful place saying that they can solve your problems.
Peter and Ed are certified. They know what they are doing. You are right. You want to make sure you are working with someone who has credentials.
