These Dads Are Doing It Right – Part 149 – Dads Passing Down Legacy And Care 

This week for the These Dads Are Doing It Right series I wanted to put the spotlight on some dads who are looking to pass down the family’s legacy through care. These dads look to connect with families and other dads to empower these dads to be the best dads they can be. Blake Brewer – Passing Down Legacy Through Letters 

Blake is on a mission to help 1 million dads and moms. He mission is to have them write at least one well written, meaningful, lasting Legacy Letter to their children. Blake has a wonderful wife and loves being a father to his three children, all under 8. As he leads his family, he draws from many mentors, but none more important than his late father, Larry Brewer. Blake is a dad helping other fathers open up about their feelings by putting pen to paper in powerful hand-written letters to their children. Javoris Hollingsworth – Creating Legacy With His Family 

In 2020, Dr. Javoris Hollingsworth his wife Dr. Arlene Gordon-Hollingsworth (Ph.D) created the popular YouTube series called “Gracie’s Corner.” It was an educational cartoon for children featuring predominately Black and Brown characters, when they couldn’t find diverse, age-appropriate content to watch during the lockdown. Gracie’s Corner is a YouTube channel for kids. It provides a combination of educational, fun, and encouraging songs for children from diverse backgrounds. David Metzger – Nurse Papa 

Nurse Papa is David Metzger. David has worked as a pediatric oncology nurse at UCSF Children’s Hospital for twelve years now. The bravery, laughter, perseverance, and the many smiles of the children and their parents who he has worked with have inspired this project. Nurse Papa is a prescriptive and heartwarming book. In addition, it is written from the perspective of a pediatric oncology nurse who is also a father. The meditations within are directed at parents and all people who are looking to ask and answer some of life’s big questions. You will laugh, you will cry, and you will learn about yourself. Sheldon Peterson – Supporting His Kid’s Legacy 

Sheldon Peterson has been supporting his Olympic Team USA curler daughters Tabitha and Tara Peterson since they were 8 and 10 years old. Tabitha and Tara have played on the same team going back to their junior days Last year his daughters competing in the Olympics. Tabitha was the 2020 USA Curling Female Athlete of the Year. The family supports Tabitha and Tara. In addition Sheldon is always there for his family and looks to help support his daughters legacy.
