These Dads Are Doing It Right – Part 188 – TV Dads Who Portrayed Fatherhood Well

This week for the These Dads Are Doing It Right series I am putting the spotlight on TV Dads. These dads portrayed fatherhood well on TV. These dad roles were written well and acted very well by each actor on this list. In addition, if there are any other dads that you think we should check out leave their name and info in the comment section below.

TV Dads – Philip Banks – Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

One of the best dads on TV was Philip Banks. James Avery played Philip Banks. On the show show he was a renowned Judge on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.  Even though he could be at times tough on his kids and nephew, he loved his kids. In addition he treated his nephew, played by Will Smith, like one of his own. Banks shared all of the emotions dads experience on the show. He was a great role model for dads.

Danny Tanner – Full House

A widow at a young age and with three daughters, Danny Tanner was one of the best fathers on TV. Bob Sagat portrayed Danny as loving, caring, and patient father. He also showed that there should not be an issue with getting help from others. His brother-in-law Jesse and his good friend Joey, helped out and acted like father figures in Danny’s kids lives. As the girls grew up, Danny was constantly there for his girls no matter what.

Carl Winslow – Family Matters

Carl Winslow was one of the hardest working dads out there in TV land. You could see it in each episode. Family Matters was a popular show for nine seasons. Carl was the breadwinner of the family. During the show he was going up in the ranks of the police department before he reached Captain. Carl even was there for his neighbor’s kid, Steve Urkle. Carl had such a big heart and is a fantastic role model for dads.

Johnny Rose – Schitt’s Creek

Johnny Rose is the dad who is the definition of being an optimist. No matter when things got tough he would be there for his family. Rose is well known for his advice. In addition he was a great listener to people outside of his family. That was seen with his “father-daughter” style relationship with Stevie.
