This week for the These Dads Are Doing It Right series I am going back to comic books to highlight some good dads. Some are biological dads, others are fantastic father figures. There are a ton of good dads in the many different comic book universes. Here are a few. Luke Cage – Not Just A Strong Dad In Comic Books
Luke Cage is known as one of the strongest comic book characters in Marvel Comics. He has bulletproof skin and super strength. Yet, for Luke he is one of the best comic book dads. A fellow comic book hero, Jessica Jones and Luke have a daughter. Her name is Danielle. If you read his stories in comic books you know that he is a devoted father. Luke has quit the Avengers on multiple occasions to spend more time with his family. He does go back and fight crime, but it shows his favorite role is being a father.
Alfred Pennyworth – One Of The Best Father Figures In DC Comics
Alfred wasn’t Bruce Wayne’s biological father. Yet he stepped up as a great dad when Bruce’s parents died. Even though Bruce was a well known person in Gotham, he had no one but Alfred. In addition, Alfred did everything he could to show Bruce how much life has to offer even after the death of his parents. Plus, Alfred would always share life lessons with Bruce when times got tough for them.
Uncle Ben – Great Responsibility
Ben Parker is a retired textile worker who becomes caretaker to his nephew Peter Parker alongside his wife May. Ben is a good-natured parental figure and reliable uncle to his nephew Peter. Unfortunately, Ben got killed when he tried to stop a burglar. Even after his death, Ben’s famous line to his nephew, Peter of “With power comes great responsibility,” stays with Peter as he looks for strength to fight the bad guys as Spider-man. Therefore, Ben is a father figure in Peter’s life that has an impact on Peter’s life and the lives that Spider-man saves each day.
Clark Kent – SuperDad
Even though Superman was not from the Earth, he one of the world’s greatest role model. Clark had two dads. One on Krypton, Jor-El and one on Earth in Jonathan Kent. So when he and Lois Lane became parents, their son got one of the best parents in the comic book world. Clark has used what his dads taught him as he raises his son, Jon. He gives his son advice and love. As Superman and Clark Kent, he taught his son what it takes to be a hero.
