These Dads Are Doing It Right – Part 324 – Dad and Child Music Duos

This week for the These Dads Are Doing It Right series I am highlighting some great dad and child music duos. These artists have worked together or their kids have followed in their father’s footsteps. Some of these artists you know while others might be new to you. In addition, if there are any other dads that you think we should check out, leave their name and info in the comment section below.

Dad And Child Music Duos

Willie & Lukas Nelson

When you are a legend in the music industry like Willie Nelson, your kids might not want to pursue the same career path. Yet, Willie helped his son, Lukas get into the family business. Lukas has spent years touring and performing as an integral part of Willie Nelson’s Family Band. Therefore Lukas is often playing guitar and providing vocal harmonies alongside his brother Micah. They have recorded numerous tracks together, including the collaborative family album The Willie Nelson Family  and an acclaimed cover of Pearl Jam’s Just Breathe.

Bob & Jakob Dylan

Speaking of legends in this industry, Bob Dylan is another one that has made his mark in music. Some say that he became the voice of a generation in the 1960s with folk and rock songs. His son, Jakob also made a name for himself. Jakob helped form The Wallflowers in 1989. The band reached acclaim with their 1996 album Bringing Down the Horse, which featured hit songs like One Headlight and 6th Avenue Heartache.

Bill & Todd Mecaughey

Bill and Todd Mecaughey are a Philadelphia-based father-and-son musical duo who perform together under the band name Plastic Soldiers. They recently gained widespread local media coverage following the release of their debut album, which served as a multi-year passion project celebrating their tight-knit family bond.  To finish the record, they had it mastered at the historic Abbey Road Studios in London by world-renowned mastering engineer Miles Showell.

Royce & Jeannie Kendall

Royce Kendall and his daughter Jeannie Kendall scored major country chart hits in the late 1970s and 1980s. This was from their Grammy-winning singe, Heaven’s Just a Sin Away. They became famous for blending traditional country, honky-tonk, and gospel elements with unique, tight family harmonies. The duo released 16 studio albums and scored 22 Top 40 singles on the Billboard country charts.
