These Dads Are Doing It Right – Part 234 – An Accidental Guide To Fatherhood

This week for the These Dads Are Doing It Right series I am showcasing some examples of dads being an accidental guide to fatherhood. Michael Lewis and other authors share their stay at home dad experience. If you are interested in these stories I highly suggest you pick up these books. In addition, if there are any other dads that you think we should check out leave their name and info in the comment section below.

Michael Lewis – Home Game: An Accidental Guide to Fatherhood

When Michael Lewis became a father, he decided to keep a written record of what actually happened immediately after the birth of each of his three children. This book is that record. But it is also something else: maybe the funniest, most unsparing account of ordinary daily household life ever recorded, from the point of view of the man inside. The remarkable thing about this story isn’t that Lewis is so unusual. It’s that he is so typical. The only wonder is that his wife has allowed him to publish it.

Gary Cook – Stay At Home Dads Are Not Welcome Here

This book explores the murky world of Mother and Baby groups. Nowadays, these groups may be called Parents and Baby groups, but don’t be deceived – this is still a mother land. This hilarious book is about Gary and his one-year-old daughter as we attend a variety of children’s playgroups for the first time. Up until 14 months, Betsy spent her life in Gary’s backpack as they walked over some very big hills. Some days, if she was particularly well behaved, he would take her to a playground. She never touched an iPad or Kindle until she was at least 18-months-old. Stay At Home Dads Are Not Welcome Here is a book which documents Gary’s  brave journey from stealth walker to reluctant talker.
