Collector Of The Week – Super Mario Bros Collection

Welcome to a new column here at The Art of Fatherhood. It is called Collector of the Week! As a fellow geek and collector of all things Pop Culture. I wanted to showcase some cool collections that dads share in our community. We talk about the latest movies, comic books, and video games that we are enjoying at the moment.

This Week’s Collector

Slobodan from Serbia emailed me a short story and a picture of his Super Mario Collection. Here is what he wrote.

Hey Art,

I would like to show my Super Mario inspired collection. It started as just one figurine for my son to show him what I liked when I was a child but shortly after, when nostalgia started kicking in, I found myself crafting a custom cardboard Mario pinball (also shown on the photo). I hope you like it.

Cheers.

What Collecting Is All About

I loved hearing Slobodan’s story. As a fellow collector I can relate. There are things that my daughters started to collect that made me think about items I had when I was their age. This is what passing on traditions to the next generation is all about. Thanks for sharing your story Slobodan. Nice work on the custom pinball machine!

Whatcha Got?

It can be comic books, bottle caps, records, helmets or whatever you are into! I want to see what your passion is and why you started up that collection. In each collection lies a better story. I want to share your story! Feel free to reach out to me and share your collection. If you enjoyed this post you may like an article I wrote called How Emperor Palpatine Taught Me Patience.

Speaking of Nintendo

Also thanks to Nintendo I received a cool Zelda Prize pack! Take to the skies, draw your sword, and experience the earliest story in the Legend of Zelda series. Join Link in his high-flying quest to save Zelda, a childhood friend who must confront her destiny. Soar between floating islands and descend to the treacherous surface world in this updated HD version of the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword game.
