Collector Of The Week – Thomas The Tank Engine & Friends

A new week means a new post for Collector of the Week here at The Art of Fatherhood. As a fellow geek and collector of all things Pop Culture I wanted to showcase some cool collections that dads share in our community. We talk about the latest movies, comic books, and video games that we are enjoying at the moment.

This Week’s Collector – Jeff And His Son – They’re Two, They’re (For) Collecting Thomas The Tank

Jeff and his son are this week’s Collector of the Week. This is what Jeff wrote.

My son just turned 5 but for as long as I can remember he has always liked mechanical toys. We have tons of cars, planes, and now MANY trains.

When I ask my son why he likes Thomas so much, he says, “Because he’s fun”. He fell in love with the “Classic” cartoon when we found it available on Amazon Prime last year. There is something captivating to a child when they see “real toys” moving around and talking on TV. As a parent, I can say the series has a lot of positive messages and it’s something I know I can leave on and not worry about.

My son is very proud of this collection, he often sets this picture up himself and he asks if we can make a video as he describes what each one means to him. He always puts them away and stores them properly. Another lesson I’m proud of, probably because he sees Dad take good care of his collectibles, too!

Thomas the Train has had a very positive impact on him and I’m proud to share his passion.

Whatcha Got?

It can be comic books, bottle caps, records, helmets or whatever you are into! I want to see what your passion is and why you started up that collection. For me, I believe that in each collection lies a better story. I want to share your story! Feel free to reach out to me and share your collection.  If you enjoyed this post you may check out the an article in this series for Collector of the Week that has a Super Mario Bros theme.
