Let me first say that there is nothing wrong with dinner and a movie. Heck, that was the first date I had with my girlfriend in college, who I later married. So the traditional dinner and a movie date will always hold a special meaning. Yet, you can upgrade a family dinner by playing a fun game while eating together. Not only are you spending quality time together, but with the right game you can have a night full of laughter.
Upgrade To Dinner And A Game
Each family has their own style of gaming. When it comes to playing a game during dinnertime, you need to find a game that is fun, but is not too complicated. I would suggest the game Vocabulicious. It is from Semper Smart Games. The founder of the company, Jim Moran is all about combining fun and education. This game is all about that combination. You and your family will enjoy learning new words together and share stories together.
How To Play
Vocabulicious has 45 appetizer word cards. Just like an appetizer, this round is a nice start to the game. It is not too filling and it starts off as the easier level in the game. Next up is the main course. You get 90 cards and the difficulty steps up a bit. The dessert cards are the advanced level. As an adult I can appreciate this level being the hardest stage. As you get older you might not be able to finish the meal, let alone order dessert. So whether Jim did that on purpose or not, I give him a round of applause on doing that. There are 12 menu cards that come with the game as well. You and your family select word cards depending on your desired skill level and use the curriculum-inspired vocabulary words into conversations on the daily menu topics.
Vocabulicious, The Best Type Of Leftovers
This is a game that helps you get to know your family even more. You get to learn about their day or what is going on in their world. You see their creative process as they use the words on the card to their life. Plus this is not a game that is hard to learn. It is an easy game to play, but the game will become one of your favorites for game night. You can purchase the game here. While you are on the Semper Smart Games Amazon page, check out all of the other games they have that you think your family will love to play together.
Please note: I teamed up with Semper Smart Games for this post and campaign and was compensated, but my thoughts are my own.
