As we prepare for a new year we have one more holiday to celebrate. These past few years have been different in how we enjoy New Year’s Eve. If you are staying home with the family you might want to have a few things planned to do with them. Here are some fun activities you can do with your kids to ring in the new year! I want to wish you and your family a healthy and happy new year.
Cook A Fun New Year’s Eve Dinner Together As A Family
From hors d’oeuvres to dinner to dessert your family can have fun preparing the meal for New Year’s Eve. My daughters have made some delicious meals for my wife and I. Everyone in my family loves to cook. So come up with a fun menu and make up a shopping list. Get all the necessary items at the store. Then you and your family can cook a nice meal while listening to some music and enjoying each other’s company. When you have good food and great people you know it is a recipe for a good night.
Write Down Resolutions Or Wishes For The Family For The New Year
This is a tradition that my wife came up with a few years ago. We all take paper and write down a few goals or things we want to do in the new year. It helps makes us all accountable to try new things. After we are done writing those goals down we share it with each other. After that we take out our goals from the year before to see how we did.
Finish Their Story
My oldest came up with activity last year. We all write a story. We have ten minutes to start that story. When the time is up we give our story to the person to the right of us. We set the timer for five minutes and continue to write for the other person’s story. After the five minutes is up we give that story to the person on the right. We do this until everyone gets a chance to write on everyone else’s story. After that we proceed to read our stories out loud. It is a fun way to see how each story ends. There are a ton of laughs when we do this. I know you and your family will love this activity.
Game Night
Whether you are playing video games or board games you and your family will have a fun night. In our family we each get to select a game to play. We take turns with each game. We find that mixing up board games with video games is the best way to have everyone all in for game night. From Mario Kart to Sorry to Madden to Connect Four we all enjoy playing games together.
