These Dads Are Doing It Right – Part 211 – From New Dads Connecting To Dads Marching To The Beat Of Their Own Drum

This week for the These Dads Are Doing It Right series I want to highlight some dad groups that are making a difference. From new dads connecting to dads marching to the beat of their own drum you need to check out their stories. In addition, if there are any other dads that you think we should check out leave their name and info in the comment section below.

Odd Man In – Marching To The Beat Of Their Own Drum

Odd Man In is a group of dads (and one son) who played music in high school and college. They have kids have all played together in the Carmel, Indiana music system.  They started playing saxophone quartet and quintet music. Next they added a trumpet on the high stuff and added a drummer. There have been a few other Odd Men that they allowed in. During the summer you’ll find them at various events around Carmel. They could be on the Monon trail, or drinking beer in their drummer’s basement. Around the holidays they all love to pull out the Christmas arrangements. Therefore you’ll find them at the winter market, or on some bar’s porch spreading some holiday cheer.

Dads Group – Checking Out The Arts

Sunrise Family Resource Center is partnering with the Vermont Arts Exchange to offer fathers and father figures monthly creative events in the VAE space in North Bennington. Sunrise recently received grant funding through the Vermont Children’s Trust Foundation to launch a new group, DADS. Fathers are invited to bring one of their children (first grade and older) to bond and engage in fun, creative endeavors. A meal will be provided, and dads will be encouraged to network with other dads, discuss interests as a group, and plan for future projects.

New Dads Connect

New Dads Connect is an 8-week online group to help you access the best ways to support your growing family. Receive professional support and practical ideas on how to connect with your baby, adjust to parenting, manage stress, and keep your relationship strong. They also have an 8-week online group to help you prepare for the adjustment to parenthood. Share your hopes, questions, and concerns while receiving support from other expectant parents and professional group leaders.
