What A Dad Wants. What A Dad Needs.

If you have been watching any of the NBA Playoffs you have seen two NBA stars singing the 90s hit by Christina Aguilera, What A Girl Wants. Why am I mentioning this? Well, that song can be remixed to give you the ultimate road map on what to get your dad for Father’s Day. I know that it can be tough knowing what to get your dad. Yet if you follow my lead and change What A Girl Wants to what a dad wants, what a dad needs you will find the perfect gift for your dad this Father’s Day.

What A Dad Wants

Before you even think about getting your dad a gift, take a look around the house and see what your dad likes to do. Families are very busy these days, but when your dad gets a chance to relax or enjoy his hobby what is he doing? Is he in the garage working on the latest fishing lures? Does he like to work out? Is he going for a run or lifting weights? Or could be in the backyard cooking up a delicious dinner on the grill?

All you need to do is follow your dad and see him in his happy place when he is not working or taking care of you. If he is into sports, you can ask him what is his favorite sport to play and favorite sport to watch. For bonus points, ask him which team he roots for in that said sport. Once you know that, you could get a new shirt or hat from that team. Once you gather all of the information you need, you just need to add a few more things to make Father’s Day special.

What A Dad Needs

You now know what a dad wants. Now what your dad needs is simple. It is you. Dads love spending quality time with their kids. So go fishing with your dad. Go pick up some new fishing gear for you and him. If he is the family’s grill master, why not upgrade his grill or get him new cooking utensils. For the dad that likes to go for a run, get matching sneakers and become his running buddy. For the dad who is into playing or following sports, pick up that new team shirt for him and yourself and watch the games together.

Another cool part about buying a gift for your dad on Father’s Day, is that every gift idea I mentioned you can get them all at Academy Sports + Outdoors. They are your one stop shop for not just Father’s Day, but for his birthday and all the holidays you celebrate. Have fun out there with your dad this Father’s Day by going to Academy Sports + Outdoors or their website at academy.com to get a gift that your dad wants and needs!

Please note: I teamed up with Academy Sports + Outdoors with this post and I got paid for this post, but my thoughts are my own.

  7. I think you made a lot of great points. Father’s Day is all about making memories with your family. We go to the park and play football, pickleball and soccer. We also bring a picnic lunch to eat after we play.

  8. My family and I find a place around us and go for a bike ride. Since our youngest was able to ride on his own, we look for a trail each Father’s Day and enjoy each other and the outdoors.
