This week for the These Dads Are Doing It Right series I take a fun look at great dads in animated shows and movies. These fictional dads raising the bar for fatherhood. There are great lessons we all can learn from them. If there are any other dads that you think we should check out leave their name and info in the comment section below.
Jefferson Davis – Into The Spiderverse
Jefferson Davis is a great dad. He is a police officer and doesn’t know his son is Spider-Man. He is a kind-hearted and good-natured. Overall, Jefferson wants to make the world a better place. As his son continues to grow up, Jefferson struggles with letting go. He knows Miles needs to do things on his own. Therefore Jefferson chooses his battles with his son so that Miles can become the best person he can be as he gets older.
Bandit Heeler – Bluey
Bandit Heeler is raiding the bar for dads. Yes, he is a fictional dad, but many parents take note when they watch the show with their kids. Many dads have had the notion that Bandit teaches us no parent is perfect, but with effort, we can all be amazing parents for sure. Bandit’s motto of ‘Gotta Be Done’ is the ultimate engaged dad. He is definitely a dad doing it right.
Uncle Iroh – Avatar The Last Airbender
Now Iroh is an uncle, but a great father figure. Uncle Iroh is smart and shows care to his nephew, Prine Zuko. Parents should take note of his parenting style. Uncle Iroh displays an abundant amount of patience and loyalty to Zuko even when times are tough between them.
Marlin – Finding Nemo
After losing his wife and family to the ocean, Marlin is left alone to raise his only surviving child, Nemo. He vows never to let anything happen to his son. A loving and responsible father, Marlin keeps his noble promise throughout Nemo’s early years. Marlin’s fear and distrust of the sea builds, and he struggles with his inability to let go of Nemo as his son begins school. When Nemo is suddenly taken away, Marlin goes looking for him. Marlin uses his courage and faith to find Nemo. His journey allows him to let his son to learn and grow.
