Do you remember the last day of school? The anticipation for summer break filled the school for both teachers and students. I miss that feeling. As an adult and a father, I do get that feeling from time to time when my family and I go on a summer vacation. There are so many distractions that can get in the way for a family to enjoy time together. The good news is that a vacation is a fantastic way to get rid of all of those distractions. So with that said, make sure you have fun out there this summer with your family.
Have Fun This Summer
My family and I took a memorable vacation last year during the summer. We went to California. Part of the trip was to visit Disneyland for the first time. We really enjoyed our time there and saw how different Disneyland was from Disney World. The other part of the vacation was renting a house near Joshua Tree National Park. My family and I love going on hikes. We live on the east coast and the trails we go on are covered with trees, waterfalls and vegetation. When we were out in Joshua Tree, it was a bit different. These trails are filled with rugged rock formations and you look upon desert landscapes in every direction.
To make sure we were all set for our time at Joshua Tree we got new hats, shirts that were sun resistant and water bottles over at Academy Sports + Outdoors. Before heading over to the store, we read over the tips on what to bring over at the Joshua Tree website. They said we needed to make sure we had lots of water. There were only certain times in the day when we could be out on the trails. Plus, there was no cell phone service, so we wanted to make sure we had all the essentials.
Enjoying Time Together
Because we packed and prepared for our time in Joshua Tree National Park, we were able to enjoy the scenery and our time together. The views were breathtaking. Hiking in the desert made me appreciate that environment and respect it enough to make sure we had everything we needed each day for our hikes. I loved hearing what my wife and daughters thought of the park. At night back at the house we rented, we shared our favorite moments from that day and planned out what we were going to do the next day.
As my daughters get older, they have more things on their plates. My wife and I try to balance work and family, but there are times where it feels like a high-wire juggling act. My family is so important to me. I want to make sure that we spend as much time together as a family before my kids are both off at college. That trip is a time I will always cherish. If you haven’t had a chance recently to take a trip with your family, I would highly suggest you find time to get out and have fun with your family. Your whole family will love the memories you make together.
Please note: I teamed up with Academy Sports + Outdoors with this post and I got paid for this post, but my thoughts are my own.
Wow. It looks like a wonderful vacation. We are planning something for next year in Canada and Alaska.
Thanks. It was a blast. Have fun next year. I know Academy Sports + Outdoors will have all the stuff you need!
Ahhh that looks like such a fun time! My littles are too young, but in a few years that’s my dream!
I think it is smart for you guys to wait until they get to an age where they can remember it and really enjoy it!
This is so gorgeous! So inspiring seeing you travel as a family!
Thank you, Kristine.
Saw your video on the gram. We had a dream vacation years ago when my kids were your kids ages. We rented an RV and toured different places in the US. The fun, the giggles and the adventure are things that will always be with me.
That sounds amazing. Thanks for sharing!
Art, so good to see your path! It inspires for sure!
Thank you, Brandon. I really appreciate that. Hope you are doing well!
