This week for the These Dads Are Doing It Right series I am looking to showcase some fantastic dads who are leading by example. These dads are making headlines. From baking cookies for essential workers to making the best of staying home these dads are doing it right. If you want to share with me a dad or parent who is doing the same thing leave their name in the comment section below to share other dads who are making headlines.
Scott McKenzie & Jeremy Uhrich – Cooking Up Smiles And Making Headlines
Two dads turned a cookie bake-off into a heartwarming effort. Their work brought int over 18,000 cookies being delivered to essential workers across Pennsylvania. Now known as the “Cookies for Caregivers,” Scott McKenzie and Jeremy Uhrich started this up last year. Scott wanted to learn something new every week. One of those things on his list was to bake chocolate chip cookies. He shared his cookie news on social. His long-time friend Jeremy Uhrich, who had also taken to baking cookies with his two sons during the pandemic.
They created a bake-off began. They made dozens of cookies. These dads decided to donate the treats to frontline workers, including nurses, firefighters and local grocery store employees. The two along with their baker volunteers look to inspire people across the country to start their own group to help others in need.
Christopher Kyle – Pretend Restaurant Reviewer
Christopher Kyle went viral this summer when he shared an honest review of his toddler daughter’s pretend restaurant. Kyle posted this picture above on his Instagram for some fun. His caption said, “I tried to support another Black Owned Business for lunch today. It’s called Ava’s Kitchen, just opened end of April. It’s a very clean establishment, but whewww let me tell you about this owner.” The reaction was amazing. He was even featured on Good Morning America, The Today Show, People and the Kelly Clarkson Show. Kyle was having fun with his daughter and I am glad to see things go viral for him.
Marcus Stricklin – Dad Jokes That Gru On You
It is always a good thing when a Stay-at-home dad makes it in the news. Marcus Stricklin had four kids learning virtually due to the pandemic this year. To “celebrate” it he made a funny TikTok video where he mimicked lovable villain Gru from Despicable Me. He recreated the scene telling his kids the rules they must follow during quarantine. Not only did he do a great job with the reenactment, but his kids did a great job too.
Ben Moore – Fancy Dinner Dad
Ben Moore, who is a BBC reporter wanted to give his kids a dinner they will always remember. Last year he shared a video of himself dressed in a tuxedo where he was serving a fancy dinner to his two children. He poured milk into wine glasses and created an elegant dinning room with flowers and candles. Well done Ben! Chicken nuggets have never looked so fancy.
Great job changing the narrative on fatherhood.
Thank you. I appreciate what you are doing too! It takes a village.
