This week for the These Dads Are Doing It Right series I am highlighting some dad and kid artist duos. These duos have created some really cool artwork. They have made a name for themselves in their communities and worldwide. Great Dad & Kid Artist Duos
Larry and Kara Walker
Larry and Kara Walker are a father-daughter painting duo that share a beautiful bond. The contemporary artist Kara Walker attributes much of her early encouragement and passion for materials to her father, artist Larry Walker, who often let her experiment in his garage studio. Kara Walker is internationally famous for her monumental, provocative cut-paper silhouette murals that explore racial, gender, and power dynamics. Larry Walker was an influential painter, professor, and chair of the Department of Art at Georgia State University, where he taught from 1983 until his retirement in 2000.
Alonzo and Kyle Adams
Alonzo and Kyle Adams are a modern father-son duo from New Jersey who paint together. Plus they share Alonzo’s professional artistic legacy. This fantastic duo frequently explore and showcase the Black experience through their powerful portraits and charcoal works. Ed And Max Capeau
Ed and Max Capeau are a father-son muralist duo from Massachusetts. They are known for their vibrant, large-scale freehand murals across Southern New England. To add more to the story, Ed Capeauis a self-taught artist who started in house painting and faux finishes. In addition, his son, Max, began painting alongside him at a very young age. Altogether, some of their notable projects and recent work include wall and locations around Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Dan and Harvey Dunn
Dan and Harvey Dunn are a father-son speed painting duo. They are well known for creating massive portraits in just minutes. Surprisingly, they do most of their work often upside down. The duo are known as Paint Jam. Dan and Harvey are out of the Houston, Texas area. They travel worldwide and have raised millions of dollars for charity through their live shows.
