If you or someone you know is a sneakerhead you know that matching your outfit with your kicks is a must. Now that we are in the holiday season I wanted to match some of my ugly Christmas sweaters with sneakers from my collection. Some of these sneakers are made for the Christmas season while others have a colorway that matches the season’s colors. Do you have a favorite holiday pair of sneakers that you rock? Let me know in the comment section below.
Air Max 90 – Nordic
The Air Max 90 Nordic sees the legendary Air Max 90 silhouette covered in patterns and hues inspired by the holidays. A snowflake-filled print arrives paired with contrasting overlays of lucky green, university red and dark atomic teal. Faux fur lining on the tongue and collar underscore the style’s premium craftsmanship and seasonal utility. The Air Max 90 is one of the all time great Nike sneaker. This variant is legit. It is a great sneaker to have in your rotation.
Air Jordan XI – Iconic Sneakers
One of the most iconic sneakers of all time is the Air Jordan XI. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Air Jordan XI. Jordan himself debuted the Air Jordan XI in 1995 after returning from his first retirement. I grew up during this time. It is one of the most beloved sneakers in basketball history. Boyz II Men showed us that these sneakers could be worn outside the basketball court when they wore them during a performance at the Grammy’s. I even wore this black and red colorway. at my wedding. The black and red colors fit this holiday season hues. Nike usually releases a different colorway. each year in December.
Reebok Pump Paydirt Mid – 49ers
One of the classic Reebok silhouettes is from the Reebok Pump Paydirt Mid. Originally released in 1992, the highly durable turf sneaker features a cage-like surrounding at the upper, a mid-foot strap, and a black speckled midsole. Predominantly composed of black and infused with blue, white and grey tones, the heavy duty retro shoe is further accented with traction detailing around the outsole. Featuring the enhanced fit Pump system.
In 2013, Reebok was kind enough to send me this shoe in the San Francisco 49ers colorway. The Paydirt Mid was Emmitt Smith’s signature shoe. He played on the Cowboys and the 9ers were one of their rivals during that time. The shoe features an all golden leather upper, with red seen on the cross-strap, padded collar, heel embroidery and inner lining. This great combination of colors and materials sits atop a speckled white midsole and black rubber outsole. The red, gold and white are perfect to go with any fashion statement you are going for your holiday party.
adidas Superstar – Darth Vader
This shoe hits my wheelhouse. When you combine sneakers with my favorite film series you know I wanted to pick these shoes up. Just like the red and black color theme in the Air Jordan XI’s, the adidas Superstar has those holiday vibes. Fifty years ago, the adidas Superstar shoes stepped onto the court. It created a cultural impact that continues to evolve today. Forty years ago, The Empire Strikes Back graced the big screens and gave us the quote we haven’t stopped saying since. So it makes sense that when honoring the Dark Lord who delivered that game-changing line, it’s done as a new take of the adidas Superstar shoes.
Nike SB Dunk High PRM – Red Velvet
One my favorite shoes this time of year. This special edition SB Dunk goes great with a Buffalo plaid shirt and jeans. It is a great way to look festive, but still feel relaxed. The SB Dunk High PRM ‘Red Velvet’ features a unique material build, emerging in a monochromatic Gym Red velvet. The luxe design up top still includes a padded tongue, and it’s supported underfoot by the usual performance benefits, including Zoom Air cushioning. The white midsole and Nike tongue tag branding in white provide the only contrast to this elevated look.
