Would You Give Your Child The Answers To The Test?

These days everyone is looking for a quick fix. There is fast food. We pay more for next day shipping. People are searching for instant gratification. As we continue to live in a microwave society, it seems that the shortcut is now considered the best route. What about when it comes to our child’s school work? Do we teach them to just look up the answers online or see if there is an answer key? I am guessing not that many parents would just give their child the answers to an upcoming test. Parents want their children to earn their grades. So when it comes to learning how to code, would you just tell your kids to use A.I.?

Not Just The Answers, But Learning The Fundamentals

This is an extreme example, but what would you do if you had this happen to you while you were boarding a plane. As the crew and passengers are getting ready for the flight, the pilot shares some information. The pilot is talking about the destination and flight time and then ends with that this flight is the first flight that they are performing and that they learned to fly from A.I. You would immediately get off the plane and wait for a pilot with actual experience.

I know that example sounds drastic, but we should have the same mindset when it comes to our children’s education. A.I. is all the rage right now. You hear that topic being talked about in all aspects from work to sports to schools to helping families in day to day activities. Yet the more we rely on other factors and not learn for ourselves, we are doing ourselves a disservice. Technology and learning to code are going to be involved in many career fields for our kid’s generation. So we need to make sure that our kids learn how to code the proper way.

Learning The Right Way

When your kids learn how to code the correct way they will learn the proper fundamentals which helps to build essential problem-solving skills. The more they learn the right way they will get a deep understanding of how systems work. As your child starts to understand how coding works will lead to your child having a higher confidence. In addition, if they do the work and not just get the answers on how to code, they will have a better retention of the technology and how it works.

When I spoke to CEO & Co-founder at CodeMonkey, Jonathan Schor about this topic he said that A.I. won’t make you better at coding. A.I. helps those who are experts in the world of coding, but not beginners. So if you want to help your child’s future when it comes to technology and coding you should check out CodeMonkey. They have programs for different age ranges and experience. In addition, if you are a teacher and looking for ways to teach your class how to code, you should look at the different plans CodeMonkey has for schools. Kids from 5-14 years old can learn block-coding, text-coding, CoffeeScript and Python all while playing! Kids as young as 5 can start programming to solve scaffolded puzzles and build their own games. Learn more at CodeMonkey.com.
