A new week means a new post for Collector of the Week here at The Art of Fatherhood. As a fellow geek and collector of all things Pop Culture I wanted to showcase some cool collections that dads share in our community. We talk about the latest movies, toys, comic books, and video games that we are enjoying at the moment.
This Week’s Collector – Johan – I AM (a) BATMAN (fan)
Johan N. is this week’s Collector of the Week. This is what he wrote.
For as long as I can remember I have always loved Batman. The idea of a man dress up as a bat going off to fight criminals with the coolest car in all comicbookdom, I mean how can one not be a fan. As I got older the psychology of Batman began to intrigue me as well, as did the fact that he as no super powers. Other than his wealth, Batman could be anyone and anyone could be Batman.
Batman and The Joker
I can’t put a finger on when exactly I began collecting Batman memorabilia and toys. It was just a natural progression from being an avid fan of the hero. Now being a dad to a little girl (Sonya) I can share that passion not only for Batman but for collecting. Of course I sneak in Batman clothing and the occasional Batman figure for her as often as I can! The best is when I buy her toys from time to time and we look at the insert that comes in the box. I’ll ask her, “who do you have left to get honey?” She’ll take a good look and then points out which pieces of the collection she doesn’t have yet. I do laugh inside that I’ve managed to train collecting into her.
Robin
On my Instagram page (naranjoj4041) I have a lot of cool stuff posted. Even some Holy Grail items. Right now I’ve gotten into buying custom Batman collectibles and my favorite artist/customizer to collect from is itz.vintage. I have to say my favorite one is my Bane/Batman. The scene that he did its amazing. This one is special to me because it rekindled my love for collecting Batman specifically. When I heard Bane broke the Batman I got obsessed with collecting Batman again. I hope that my collection excites others as much as it excites me. Feel free to follow me on instagram as well as my friend itz.vintage. Thank you!
We appreciate you sharing your collection Johan. As Joker once said, “Where does he get those wonderful toys?” Thanks to your story we know how you get your Batman figures for your collection!
Whatcha Got?
It can be comic books, bottle caps, records, helmets or whatever you are into! I want to see what your passion is and why you started up that collection. I believe that in each collection lies a better story. I want to share your story! Feel free to reach out to me and share your collection. If you enjoyed this post you may check out the first article in this series for Collector of the Week.
